Welcome to IdleMMO: A Starter Guide for Adventurers

Welcome, adventurers!

The event officially begins today, and I’ve noticed many new players joining the game — with lots of questions (which is great!). So I decided to put together this IdleMMO beginner's guide, along with a short glossary of terms and mechanics we use daily. This should help you find your footing and know exactly what to do at the start!

This is just the beginning of a guide I’ll update regularly — as the game evolves and new questions appear.

🌱 Getting Started in IdleMMO

I just created my account. What now?

  1. Create an alt! (an alternate character).
  2. Set your main and alt to farm coal.
  3. Your first goal is to reach combat level 45, while the alt gathers coal to generate gold.

Take advantage of early world bosses like the level 1 boss — they’ll give you a strong start without spending gold.

As you level up, sell the coal on the market, always listing it 1 gold below the lowest offer so it sells faster. Use that gold to do dungeons or battles and boost your progress to level 45.

I reached level 45. Now what?

Create your second alt!
Early on, your goal is to have two alts working for you as soon as possible.

Set both to coal farming. Once you’ve saved enough gold, buy a membership and switch to a more efficient gold-farming method (I have a post on the blog about this — Practical Guide: The Best Ways to Earn Gold in IdleMMO).

How do I send items to my main account?

Use the trade system:

  • Log into the account that will send the items.
  • Search for the receiver character.
  • Click their profile → Trade → add the items.
  • Accept the trade on both accounts.

⚠️ You can only trade once the alt reaches 150 total level.

To speed things up, just keep mining coal. If you’re close to the requirement, use meditation — it won’t interfere with your progress and helps level up passively.

What now?

With membership and two alts set, choose your path in the game:

  • Level up your combat
  • Grind dungeoneering
  • Collect pets
  • Stack gold

No matter your playstyle, always keep your alts generating gold.

💡 Pro tip: Join a guild that matches your level and join the raids. They’re a great source of XP.

📚 Glossary & General Tips

Map:
Switch maps when your current one feels too weak. Use the "Map" button and click "What's there?" to see what's available.
⚠️ Don’t use the “Travel” button — it wastes time.

World Bosses & Dungeons:
Enable the setting to show all events across maps. This helps track times and loot without traveling.

Guild Raids:
Check the time in your guild info. When a raid is active, you'll see "Raid" on the map.
Click “Join” in the guild tab.
⚠️ Join 5–10 minutes early to ensure you're in.

Dungeoneering & Magic Find:

  • Dungeoneering unlocks new dungeons.
  • Magic Find increases your chance to get rare loot (from bosses and dungeons).
  • You can get MF from gear, dungeon completion, or temporary potions.
  • Take a look at the Fast Dungeon Guide for AFK Heroes

RNG:
Short for Random Number Generator. Some items have 30% drop chance, others just 0.01%.

Avoid Early On:
Don’t focus on alchemy or forging in the beginning — they’re slow to level and not profitable early. Ask your guild or Discord for help instead.

Pet:
There’s a full pet guide here on the blog — definitely recommended for beginners.

Quick Guide: Everything You Need to Know About Pets

Membership:
Essential to increase idle time and your overall efficiency.

Classes:
Beginner class guide is already up, and I’ll post about alt and hardcore classes soon too.

Quick Guide to Classes & Stats — Which Path to Choose?

Campaign:
A good way to get potions, skins, and backgrounds. Do what’s easy for now — the rest will come later.

Events:
Use them well! Events speed up your progression a lot. Check out the Moonlit Festival guide on the blog.

Complete Event Guide: Brace for the Moonlit!

Guilds:
Avoid creating one early. It’s expensive. Join an active guild near your level instead.

Shrine:
When active, it gives a massive XP boost for up to 8 hours idle. Go to a location with Shrine on it, click Nearby” → “Shrine” and activate all 3 tiers.

Potions:
They’re super useful! I’ll be posting a full potion guide soon.

Shards:
A new in-game resource. You earn them by completing museum collections, high-level dungeons (70+), or tavern interactions.
They can be exchanged for skins, pets, potions, and more.

Ascension:

When you reach level 100 in a skill, you unlock Ascension Points! You can keep leveling it up to 500, and the higher your level, the better XP or efficiency boosts you get. You’ll have 10 points to use and they refresh over time — so always activate them before starting something important!

If you have questions, feel free to comment or ask in the guild Discord. I’ll keep this post updated as new things come up.

Good luck at the start of your journey…
