Chatcast #1 — ShuraBlack, the Shadowblade Smith of Mys

Welcome to the very first edition of Chatcast, a text-based podcast-style series where we sit down with players from the IdleMMO universe and talk grind, guilds, and goals — all without anyone needing to unmute.

Today’s guest: ShuraBlack, a long-time player, blacksmith of Mys, and moderator of the game.

Name, Class & Why Shadowblade?

What’s your in-game name and main class right now?
ShuraBlack, Shadowblade, even though chef makes more sense for my gamestyle. For the guild, I am the smith haha.

If you could pick a different class today, would you?
I only recently changed for the first time — I started as a Warrior, which is kinda dumb since I barely have any combat history. But at least with Shadowblade, I’ll be prepared.

What makes Shadowblade fun (or painful)?
All classes have similarities. Shadowblade lacks the protection I had before, but it’s not a big problem anymore haha.

Character Origins

What’s the story behind your name?
It’s been my go-to name for years. The origin comes from Metin2, where you could play a “Black Sura” — a dark magic build. My brother still plays that game, by the way.

Guild Life

Tell us about your guild — what’s the vibe?
Mys is very chill, as planned. We don’t force people into anything. We're currently non-competitive, but who knows — the gear meta might shift us.

How did the name "Mystic" come about?
I didn’t choose the name, but I assume it’s a nod to Mythic rarity.

Favorite memory with the guild?
No single moment — just a collection of little things that make it a great place.

What’s your role in the guild?
We invested early in Alchemists and Forgers. I took the forger role. It’s a core skill for any guild. Of course, I also do stuff like challenges and scheduling — but that sounds boring haha.

What makes a guild worth staying in?
Only acceptable answer: the people. If you say anything else, you’re an egomaniac. (Just kidding. But really — it’s all about the people.)

Guild drama — ever seen any?
Let’s just say anyone who's been around long enough probably heard about MYS vs WAR. I’ll leave it at that 👀

Gold & Grinding

How do you manage your gold?
I keep it in the bank but invest when I see long-term value — call it casual spending.

How do you make gold?
Double Chef. I’m a meta slave. Dungeons don’t love me back.

Market watcher or impulse buyer?
A bit of both. I track some items but mostly just sell drops and move on.

Goals & Game Flow

Do you set long-term goals?
I mostly play for the vibe. My activity chart looks like a bad heartbeat lol.

Any big dreams in-game?
I want all skills at 90+ and eventually full BIS3 mythic gear.

Slow grind or fast wins?
Fast achievements are easy, but IMMO is all about long-term integration into your daily routine.

Community & Players

Do you talk much outside your guild?
Depends on the mood. Sometimes I chat with everyone, sometimes I go silent — even in guild.

Any players you admire or compete with?
Not really. I don’t compare progress — maybe a guildmate now and then.

What makes this community different?
The amount of drama 😂 Every community is unique, but we definitely have our quirks.

Game Feedback

If you could add one new system?
The current component system is meh. I’d love a real guild building system — maybe something with global interaction on a big map.

Most frustrating feature?
Forging’s value. Please Mike, fix it.

Is the game going in the right direction?
Yes. Updates and reworks have been good — even if the loud ones drown out the rest.

Reflections

One tip to your past self?
Don’t cry about Membership prices. They’ll never be that good again.

Three words to describe IdleMMO?
Idle. Indie. Gathering.

If IdleMMO disappeared tomorrow?
I’d miss the daily engagement — but thankfully, I’d still have my people.

Becoming a Moderator

How did you become a moderator in IdleMMO?

Ah, the classic question. To be clear from the start — there’s no set path to becoming a knight or moderator. It mostly comes down to Mike’s decision, being active in the community, contributing meaningfully, and, honestly, a bit of timing and luck.

Back then, I even wrote a proper, overly formal British-style letter to support just to ask about it. Of course, that didn’t lead anywhere (shoutout to Codes for the reply anyway haha). But eventually, Mike was looking for new knights, and to my surprise, I was asked.

The moderator role followed a similar pattern — they were looking for someone, I applied, and decided to give it a shot. None of it was planned. For a long time, I even avoided the official servers, except for one of my own projects running there, which slowly got more attention.

Closing Words

That’s the end of this Chatcast!
Thanks so much to ShuraBlack for sharing all of this with us.

You’ll get a preview of the post before anything goes live — so no surprises.
Until next time, stay idle ✨
